Simple Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

These easy muffins only take five ingredients and they come out super moist and delicious! I don't know that there is another flavor as reminiscent of autumn as pumpkin... Make sure you enjoy them with a nice mug of hot cocoa!

Simple Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

1 box cake mix, spice cake flavor
1/4 c. flour
2/3 c. milk
1 c. pumpkin
1 c. chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients and bake in prepared muffin tin at 375 for 18-22 minutes.  I like to prepare my muffin cups by lining them with cupcake papers AND spraying the papers with cooking spray so the muffins look nice and slide right out of the papers.

Mmm, that sandwich looks yummy. Maybe you could get your girls some organizational supplies! Not that they would be excited about it. ;)

Back in the day when I used to listen to Dr. Laura, she had an approach to this problem.

She said strip their room of everything except the bed and 3 outfits. Then they had to earn their stuff back.

I've sort of taken a similar approach with my 3 year old. If I tell her once to pick something up (or rather, help me pick it up) and she doesn't do it, then I put whatever she won't pick up in a big bucket in my craft room (which she can't get into) for one week. The first week or so, I had a lot of buckets of toys in my craft room. I'm proud to say that there's not a single one in there right now! :) (Of course, that's subject to change at any moment.)

Or you could take my own mother's approach ... just close their door so you can't see it and pretend it doesn't exist. It worked for her.

There's nothing that will work with my girls... they've been this way for their whole lives. I've done the getting rid of all their stuff thing, I've done the buying them cool organizers, I've done the earning back things and the straight out throwing it in the garbage, they've been grounded (once for a whole summer because they just wouldn't clean their room), we've done the reward system where they earn rewards for each day it stays clean... They are 13 and 10 and NOTHING has ever worked. I've even tried the closing the door and pretending it doesn't exist thing, but when I do that it gets to the point it's like an actual health hazard with them. And their room is the entire basement right now... which is half the size of the whole main floor (living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, hallway, bathroom) and you can't see an inch of space. I don't know what to do with them!

When I got divorced all our stuff was in storage for 5 months. They had mattresses on their bedroom floor and a box of clothes for each of them... that's all! Their room was a disaster all the time! I'd find pieces of paper, garbage, hair ties, food (that was not supposed to leave the kitchen), wet towels, dirty clothes, rocks, etc. ALL over their floor. With only a mattress and necessary clothes they STILL managed to have a disastrous room! When we move and they have separate rooms it will be interesting to see if they are both like that or if one influences the other.

Nina has missed parties this month, she's not able to go to the special preview night of Harry Potter, etc all because their room isn't clean. All their friends are like "just clean your room!" But they won't so they're just stuck in there... no computer, no tv, no friends, etc until it's done. It's been weeks already! dang girls, it just doesn't even make sense to me.

That is weird. This may seem obvious, but I sometimes overlook the obvious myself, have you sat down and asked them why they won't clean it?

Maybe they have some sort of unresolved feelings from the divorce or something. ??

Good luck with the cleaning thing! If you find the secret to that, please let me know!
Some kids (adults too) are just not tidy by nature~ my oldest daughter is that way. :) It took us a long time to reach a compromise that we both could live with! :)
My 2 youngest boys (16 & 9) are driving me crazy right now with messes all over the house! And like you, I've tried everything to no avail!!!
