Hobo Dinners (Please tell me you know what they are!)

I was surprised at how many of my facebook friends didn't know what hobo dinners are! Even my kids who camp all the time with their dad say they haven't had one since I used to go camping with them. Seriously? These are so fun and delicious! They're of course PERFECT camping food, but they also work great anytime! You can cook them on a bbq grill or in your oven as well.

The ingredients are pretty flexible.

This is for one of my kids... hamburger patty, a couple of potato slices, baby carrots, frozen corn and a scoop of cream of mushroom soup right out of the can.

Labeled with a "K" for kids :)

This is a grown up one... Nice and full! I also added celery and onion soup mix.

Place them on hot coals and cook for around 20 minutes turning them over half-way through.

So good! They smell fabulous!

Hooray! Don't forget the s'mores for dessert! :)

We just call these tin foil dinners. We made some while camping recently with snap peas, fries, and chicken nuggets. That was a big hit with the kids! Yours look great. I'd love to do one with a hamburger patty sometime.

We used to do those when I was younger. We'd do either ground beef or boneless skinless chicken, plus potatoes and carrots, salt and pepper. Hmm, I think I have an idea for dinner tonight...

I love hobo meals when we go camping! It has been a few years since I've had one but you have given me inspiration to make some again. I'm going to try your "recipe" with the extras added in. Looks Yummy!

You left me a comment over at Front Porch Ponderings about my Zucchini Tomato Salsa. I actually made it this summer using a packaged salsa mix (red package) I found in the canning section. I ended up adding a bit of this and a bit of that with my zucchini added in and it turned out DELICIOUS! When I did the research I found that zucchini is safe to can as long as it is a part of something, i.e. soup/salsa/etc. I even made zucchini "soup" last year which was basically a sauce consisting of zucchini cooked down to a soupy mixture with lemon juice added. I use it to cook my fish in. I found good tips on youtube for zucchini. Hope this helps!

We LOVE hobo dinners!! We use shish-kabob meat (pork, chicken, or beef) from the butcher shop, green peppers, carrots, onions, potatoes. Cook them on the grill. The most delicious meals! I usually make french bread (garlic butter spread and crushed cilantro) as well with this meal. We use bbq sauce or heinz 57 to dip the meat into. man I'm hungry!
