Caramel Pear Jam

We make caramel pear jam every year!  We typically eat it on top of brie cheese and it's amazing!!!

Carmel Pear Jam

8 pears, peeled and cored
1 pkg powdered fruit pectin
1/4 c. sugar
3 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp nutmeg
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp butter

Process pears in blender until smooth. Combine pectin and 1/4 c. sugar in a pot. Add smashed pears. Stir and heat over med-high heat until mixture reaches a full boil. Gradually stir in remaining sugar and spices. Add butter. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir 5 minutes longer. Fill hot sterilized half-pint jars. Process 10 minutes. Makes 5-6 half pints.

YUM! I've never heard of such a concoction! I am going to have to put this one in my stash of canning to do next year!
You are truly amazing!

That sounds yummy! I have never canned before in my life so I am wondering if I should try. Do you have a post on how to can? I don't even know what I need other than jars!

Do you think it's okay to make this as a freezer jam instead of canning?
