I once saw a picture of book pumpkins in a magazine and thought "I can make those", so I did. I bought my books for .10 each a yard sale and as I was looking through the woman's box she asked me what type of book I was looking for. I responded with "The fattest ones so I can make pumpkins out of them"... LOL I got quite the funny look.These are very time consuming, but get the kids involved or do it while watching netflix.
All you do is fold every single page in half one by one. For the tapered pumpkin you first fold the corner down and then fold the page in half. Next you staple the front and back covers together forming your cylinder. The faces, stems and leaves are simply black construction paper hot glued to the book.
I made these several years ago and they're still holding up well. I hope you have a fabulous, creepy Halloween.

You can make these with old catalogs - like Penneys - too. My kids did several years ago with their grand-ma.

Never seen pumpkins made from books before. REALLY CUTE!!!! We used to make choir boys and girls for Christmas the same way. You need a styrofoam ball for the head and a bit of felt and yarn for eyes and hair.
Really cute! Did you actually find books with orange pages? Or did you color them with something? One really looks orange to me, and the other two kinda look orange...but it may just be how it's coming across on my computer! Thanks for sharing the idea!
I remember doing something like this when I was in grade school. We used Reader's Digest and painted them gold, colored paper in the shape of feathers and a turkey head. We made these of course for Thanksgiving. I wonder if I can remember how to make them.

I remember people making shapes this way when I was a kid - not pumpkins though - probably Christmas trees. Very retro fun.
