Grungy Candles with Pumpkin Pie Spice

Pumpkin pie spice is the secret ingredient in these adorable candles! I thought I'd show you all how to make them.

This is what they looked like before (sad and boring). And... by the way, the candle holders were picked up at a thrift store the other day for .50 each and the votives come in a six-pack at the Dollar Tree. This is not an expensive craft at all!

Place your candles to be melted in a can and set the can in a pot of boiling water until they melt down. Use tongs to pick the wicks out once the wax is melted enough. Once the wax is completely melted, add a couple teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice.

Hold your plain candles over the can and brush the melted wax on in layers with a silicone brush. Keep stirring the melted wax to keep the spices mixed in.

This is what they look like after the first layer. You'll want about six layers on them. They go really quickly because as soon as one layer is done, you can start right into the next.

Here they are all finished and adorable. They smell good too!

That's a really great idea! I would have never thought of that. I usually stamp my candles with a rubber stamp, but that's getting boring so I might try this.
Thank you for adding a link to me. :)

These would smell so awesome! Pumpkin pie spice always reminds me of fall baking, and has some of my favorite spices. Plus, they are seriously cute!

Very cool! Make your own scented candles! Love those chunky candle holders - what a great deal you got on those!

Great idea! This would be fun to do with older kids, too!
