Adorable Banner Invites with Step-by-Step Instructions

I love banners!  I haven't done much card making lately so of course when I decided to make some simple summertime invitations I went with a banner theme!  And patriotic, but y'all know this is The AMERICAN Homemaker so that goes without saying.  When I got my new house decorated Alyssa said, "Mom, people who see our house will think we really love America."   I don't think that's a bad thing for people to think!

These were the supplies I gathered to brain storm with.  I ended up using the sheet with the squares of different patriotic patterns.  It worked great because there were so many options on one sheet!

I printed the words "let's celebrate!" onto tan cardstock using a handwriting font and my printer.  You could also hand write your verbage or this would be a good chance to pull out those rubber stamps you never use.  A simple one or two word phrase looks best on a card like this.

Cut your cardstock into 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 pieces, which is the standard 1/4th of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock.  Cut three squares of patterned paper, each square being 1"x1" or 1 1/4" x 1 1/4".

Fold each paper in half to make a triangle and firmly press to crease.  Cut a piece of string or bakers twine around 7" long.  Use glue to attach your paper squares to the string to make the banner.

I used eyelets on some of my cards and brads on others.  Brads are super simple, but eyelets always make a fun statement.  I bought this silent eyelet setter a couple of years ago and it's one of my favorite tools!  There is no pounding or obnoxiousness involved.

Place your eyelets or brads in the top corners of your card.  Attach the banner to the brads or tie it through the eyelets.

Glue the completed cardstock to the front of a card.  I use half a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock cut in half and folded.  You can buy envelopes at most craft stores to fit that size.  You could also just use the cardstock as-is, print your info on back and use it as a postcard.

These little banners are so fun!  By changing the color of the paper you could use them for a variety of holidays or birthdays or just because invites!  They don't even have to be invitations... they make fun birthday cards too!  Happy crafting!

I like this craft as well as the paper one that can go over the wine glasses (we only use ours for egg nog *smile*). I also like the little banana bread idea. *smile*

As I read along I found that you and I are the same age, just turned even. *smile* Happy belated birthday. I had a number three candle and two others (our daughter just turned four). *smile*

Thanks for sharing these ideas with all of us. Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!
