Lunch Box Ideas: Cheerios Treats

This was one of my very most used recipes when my kids were little. It was requested all the time by them and their dad. I haven't made it for several years and then it popped into my head that I needed to make them... SUPER YUMMY! They're very sweet and very addictive. This is a great lunch box dessert or after-school snack!

Cheerios Treats

1 c corn syrup
1 c sugar
1 1/2 c peanut butter
3 c cheerios
3 c rice crispies
1 ½ c m & ms (it’s best if you freeze them first)

Boil the corn syrup and sugar together until the sugar dissolves. Stir in peanut butter. In a large bowl, mix together remaining ingredients. Pour peanut butter mixture over the top. Stir well to coat. Press into a greased 9x13 pan. Let cool. Slice into squares.

Freezing the m&m's first - brilliant! I made s'mores popcorn balls once, I think freezing the chocolate and mini marshmallows would have made it a lot better, they ended up melting and spreading all over.

Anyway, delicious looking treat.
