Between canning and holiday baking, I think most everyone goes through a lot of sugar during the fall and winter months.
I like to use my sugar bags instead of throwing them away. Call it recycling or upcycling or whatever you like, but I just think they're cute :)
Let me just show you how simple this project is:
First, fold the sugar bag like a brown paper sack.
Next, cut a bit off the top.
Cut each corner about an inch.
Fold the top down two rolls.
At this point it's easy to dump the last sprinkles of sugar out.
Add a bit of paper shred into the bottom.
I chose to fill my sugar bag with a jar of peach freezer jam and a packet of freezer jam pectin, but this gift bag would be great to give away any of your freshly bottled goods to neighbors, visiting teaching sisters, friends, etc :)
To finish, punch holes in the front and back part of the bag and tie closed with string, twine or ribbon.

That is a very cute idea! I just wish I could get sugar bags that are as cute as yours!
I love it! Very cute! :) Our sugar bags in our local stores aren't as cute tho... :(
I love the idea of reusing the sugar bags. That is so cute!!
What a great idea!!!
Cute. Though like some of the others, the sugar bags I get aren't very gifty looking. And at the price sugar is getting around here, I personally would love someone to just give me a bag or 5 of sugar.
That's really cute! :)
Very cool idea.
What an ADORABLE idea! I wish I hadn't just thrown out a bag! I'm saving them from now on!! I'm keeping my eye open for cute sugar bags! Thanks for sharing this creative idea!
Ok....so now I'm on a quest to find cute sugar bags! I looked around today...didn't find anything as cute as yours. Like you, I live in Utah. Do you mind sharing where you purchased that sugar?
