Pink Napkins from Tea Towels and Quick & Easy Biscuit Mix Cookies

I found these pink kitchen/tea towels at the dollar store today and fell in love. They are so cute; I love pink and browns together and the vintage-looking bowls of soup are so fun.

I bought all three they had. I debated for a while as to what to make with them because I'm all about upcycling and I settled on napkins (I'm not sure if this counts as upcycling since they are brand new). I got two 12" napkins from each towel. I'm hoping I see one more at another dollar store so I can have a set of eight.

And I HAVE to share this fun and easy cookie recipe...

I love using biscuit mix, so when I saw this vintage 1967 cookbook at a thrift store for $1 I grabbed it up quickly. I love that it's dedicated to the woman who is practical enough to take a shortcut and creative enough to make the best of it :)

This is the first recipe I've tried from the book. They turned out so great and were done in 15 minutes, start to finish! I only got about 18 cookies (I use a tablespoon scoop) from the recipe, which made it perfect for an after school snack without worrying about having lots of cookies sitting around and going into my mouth.  I used vanilla pudding and they came out really soft and delicious.

I altered the recipe just a bit to make a snickerdoodle-type recipe. My snickerdoodles always flop, but these turned out great and my friends at work didn't know the difference.

Snickerdoodles

2 c. biscuit mix (I use Jiffy)
2 pkg vanilla instant pudding
1/2 c. oil
2 eggs
1/2 tsp cream of tarter

Heat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients until dough forms a ball. Shape dough into balls, using 1 tablespoonful for each. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Dip bottom of glass in a cinnamon/sugar mixture; press on balls to flatten. Bake 10 minutes.

I'll be making many more recipes from this book, I'm sure!

My take on The Turn of the Screw...all the weight of the good vs. evil that was battling inside of Chase was just too much for the little guy and ended up doing him in.

Who knows!
