Mother's Day Dinner & Chocolate Mousse Pie
I bought this gold flatware after Christmas on clearance several years ago for like $10. I got a service for 12 with serving spoons, carving knives, etc all in a nice heavy wood box. The kids LOVE them. They feel so fancy using gold forks and spoons. Alyssa set the table for us.
We had cube steak with mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and rolls...
spinach salad...
and fabulous jello... Don't they look adorable in these sundae cups? I bought a set of 14 at a thrift store the other day for $2.
LOL Look what happens when they sit for too long! The strawberry squishes the whipped cream. But they look pretty when they're first served :)
The kids got a kick out of having a bottle and two glasses. Silly Caleb decided instead of using one of the cups for water, he wanted to drink his soda from three containers during dinner.
And then there was dessert! Yum!
Chocolate Mousse
2 pkt knox gelatin
2 T cold water
1/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. sweetened cocoa
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. whipping cream
2 tsp vanilla
Mix the cold water and gelatin together. Let stand 1 minute. Add boiling water and stir until dissolved. If it doesn't dissolve microwave for a minute and stir again. My gelatin was really old, so I had to microwave it. Put in the fridge to cool while you do the next part. Stir together sugar and cocoa; add whipping cream and vanilla and beat with an electric mixer until it's stiff like whipped cream. Add the gelatin and beat again until it's well mixed. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Garnish with additional whipped cream if desired. Mmmmmmmm!!!!!

YUM! I love that you use all your fancy stuff on a regular basis. But how do you fit it all in such a small kitchen? Is there a secret organization method you could share with your readers?
