Homemade Syrup

Pancake syrup is one of those things I've started making homemade. It's inexpensive and really delicious! I think it's better than the store-bought stuff I usually purchase and it takes less than five minutes from start to finish, so why not? The maple flavoring was about $3 a bottle and you only use a tiny bit each time. I found my glass bottles at a thrift store. They were originally made for salad dressing.

Homemade Syrup

Mix in a small saucepan:

1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. water
1/2 tsp maple flavoring

Bring to a boil and simmer for about two minutes, stirring often. Store in the fridge.

This is how I do it, and how my mom has always done it. I like that it soaks into the pancakes so much better.

That sounds REALLY yummy! I had no idea homemade syrup was so easy to make. My kids would eat panckaes or waffles for every single meal if I let them. so I could probably save a few bucks by making my own syrup!

THANKS FOR THIS RECIPE! I love the idea of making my own syrup.

Catching up on my blog reading. We have an unconventional family scripture study at our house. It's worked out great for us. If interested let me know, and I'll email you the simple details. I work to, it's hard to fit it all in.

I've got an award for you!!!
Have a great day.

I tried to make homemade syrup one time and it was a disaster. Maybe I'll try your recipe soon.

I make this same recipe and we love it. I use my old syrup bottle to put it in until I can find a big glass one. We think it tastes better than the store bought too.

I bookmarked this post months ago and have been looking for the maple flavoring ever since so that I could make my own. But, I haven't been able to find any. Where do you get the maple flavoring?
