This definitely doesn't compare with all the fancy-schmancy tablescapes out there, but this is extent of the fanciness of our house this week since I'm working every day and every night.
My favorite way to make garlic bread is to mix margarine with powdered ranch dressing mix (to taste), spread it on whatever bread I have on hand and bake at 400 for about 8-10 minutes. Yummy!
I had one happy kid (he said to me right before dinner, "If we're having pizza tonight then I love you"}, one pouting kid and one crying kid (I'll explain later).
And here's what happens when you try to get a nice pizza pose from an eight year old boy....
and here's the reason for the pouts... I spread the garlic butter onto the bread and set the pan on the stove to wait for the pizza to get done before I popped it in... I had two minutes so I decided to snap a couple of pics for an upcoming posting... all of a sudden my model's eyes turn away... MOM!!!
The stupid mouse was munching on one of the garlic bread slices!!! We've had a ton of mice in our house lately and we've been catching them in traps, but this little guy is fearless. He climbs on the stove even if we're right there and the other day he was in my sink and gave me a heart attack. The cat really, really wants him, but this guy is tricky! I was discussing how I wanted to murder the mouse and cook him on the burner and that made my two mouse-loving girls cry and pout. I want revenge!!! How dare he taste my garlic bread! And yes, I threw the mouse-munched slice away. YUCK!

Oh my, I'd die if I saw that mouse on my stove.
LOVE the garlic bread idea, and the cute kids, HATE mice!! Don't care how cute they are...
I cant believe the mouse hung around long enough for you to take a pic of him..LOL I cant blame u for wnating to get him..he is sorta cute though..lol

What a adventure! Sounded and looked yummy
caleb just totally cracks me up!! i bit my tongue laughing at those pics of him!!
i didnt notice the mouse on the gass ring when you posted the pic on fb, i knew i shoulda stopped being lazy and looked at it properly...but eewwwwww!! get a shotgun and aim!! LOL
Yum!
So, the mouse—very cute, but I'd probably have a death wish for him too if he were in my house!
How funny that you can't catch him BUT you can catch him on camera :)
That could have been my stove and my mouse!! My mouse did not move until I turned on the burner. But I think between my kids and our cats, the mouse lived to tell a tale outside in the yard!!
wow! I love that you set the table so pretty all the time, but that mouse is to much! get him! I cant believe he was crazy enough to sit there!
Oh Angie! I can't get over that cute mouse peeking out of the burner. He looks so healthy :0)
I'm with you though "death to the mice in my house!!"
There is nothing like a pizza night!
Angie-I love it!!! This is the way life really is--kids and critters run amuck! Your bread sounds good and the kids are adorable! I think you may have at least one "ham" on your hands. Good luck with Mickey :)
I'm not afraid of much, but a mouse on my stove would drive me CRAZY! I'll get an occasional visitor in my basement, but NOT on my stove. Good luck getting rid of your visitors!!!

Your garlic bread sounds so yummy. I'd love to give it a try (minus the mouse!) I do believe I would've screamed and stood on the table if I saw that in my stove...now wouldn't that be some more of a tablescape! ha
You garlic bread recipe sounds wonderful, I will try that one! Good luck with Mr. Mouse.

The happy smiles tell us this was a yummy meal.
How refreshing to see a down to earth table for Tablescape Thursday. I love it. I'll have to try that butter recipe. My kids can't get enough garlic bread now.
The mouse looked cute in that picture (as it was in your home, not mine...), but I am with you, I would not have appreciated that little sucker eating my garlic bread. And I really only like them if they are stuffed and I bought them at the store. Good luck, I have loads of stray cats around here lately, I am thinking mice city! I hope your cat is victorious in the end... Circle of life, all I have to say...

Cute tablescape, and cute stories! Yikes, a mouse!!! I would have to move!! LOL!
Thanks for the recipe for the garlic bread, I want to try that!
Katherine
Angie, I think you need a cat or two to rid your house of those mice (though that one in the stove is cute, but desperate).
I'm going to try your garlic bread recipie. Sounds tasty and easy to make...my style of cooking.

Who wouldn't be happy with pizza! your All-American table is cute...I am surprised your cat hasn't caught that little Willard! EEK! Thanks for the nice comment you left earlier.
Good idea for garlic bread! That is the cutest mousey photo. You should put it on Flickr or somewhere. I live in a 160 year old house so there are plenty of ways they get in my house in the winter too. I have 2 cats that are supposed to get them but at times i have run in and saved the little mouse and put him outside! (I'm sure to see him again!)
I am afraid I would have had a coronary! Right there! Right then!
Your kids are so cute!
The pizza looks good and the table just like home! The mouse, eeekkk!
Pizza looks good but the mouse....yikes!! I hate them! I would have a heart attack if I saw that in my stove....Christine
What I don't understand is what the heck kind of mouse stays still long enough for you to get his picture????
Pretty sure it's time to call a professional exterminator. Just don't tell the girls.
Your kids are sooo cute:) Love the table setting but yes the mouse must go!! Can't wait to try the garlic bread! The pizza looks great too, how do u make your pizza's? thanks!
I'm impressed that you had your wits about you long enough to take a photo of your little "friend"! I'd be halfway down the street! LOL
Great post -
That is just the most hilarious picture - the mouse that is - and I so was not expecting it! Cute but nasty too, huh? Oh my! Thanks for sharing your very real tablescape and family dinner with us. I enjoyed it so much! This was much more like my table and family than any of the other tablescapes I've seen today!
I would FREAK OUT if I saw a mouse!! I am vegan so for the most part a huge animal lover but I'm sorry, even I don't do mice in the house- thank goodness for cats! Other wise the table was super cute!
Wonderful 'normal' table. I still get so nervous putting my tablescapes up..they aren't as fancy as they could be...and who has the time to plan for days for everyday supper. I think maybe I'm just so scatter brained or maybe there's something wrong with me..I just can't keep up. I'm lucky to get 1 a month. Everybody is so inspirational.I'm really jealous..they are all better than Better Homes or Country Living mags. As for little Micky there...it must be the weather....we have them in the garage, but they do not get in the upstairs. We have 6 kittens (don't ask..they were found in our yard thrown away) who are terrified of 'em and 1 Norwegian Elkhound that tells me when there is one in the kitchen. He cannot atand 'em. You can guess he literally chases 'em to the basement door. It's kinda like a cartoon. Ya here him sliding and clicking his toenails and feet on the kitchen floor then the slight thud as he hits the closed door. Just a tip from my hubby...mice cannot resist peanut butter. Forget the cheese..gets 'em everytime.
that mouse made me jump! And gave me the heebeejeebies! We have them in our outer walls...and i hear them munching.!! ACK! PLEASE don't tell me they will come IN!
Maybe it was the yummy dinner?
