Start Now!!!

It's time to start stocking up on all the holiday pantry & fridge necessities. Stores are starting to have great sales and it's so much easier to start now than to wait until the week of a holiday and deal with the craziness and very little selection. Here's a list of a few things I've already stocked up on & a few things I'm keeping my eyes out for:

hot chocolate (.50)
crackers ($1)
canned milk (.50)
2 lt soda-pop (.80)
salad dressings ($1)
high quality brownie mixes ($1)
tortilla chips ($1.25)
cream cheese (.88)
shredded cheese ($1/8oz)
apple juice (.99)
whipped cream (.99)

chocolate chips
brown sugar
powdered sugar
refrigerated cookie dough
canned pumpkin
canned veggies
canned gravy
stuffing mix
cranberry sauce
pie crusts
pudding mixes
cool whip
pie fillings

Of course, the list could go on and on.... But hopefully this will get you thinking and starting to check out those grocery store ads. I know my holiday food budget is always outrageous, but if I start early I don't seem to notice it as much :)

Also.... time to start freezer cooking for the holidays! I'm starting to decide what to make and freeze. So far I have a loaf of banana bread. ha ha ha Time to squeeze in some more freezer cooking!

Can you freeze cream cheese?

It doesn't freeze well, as in the texture changes. I just look for cream cheese packages that have an expiration date several months away :)

good ideas. I got a 22 pound turkey for the freezer the other day at walmart for only 40 cents a pound! We don't even have Thanksgiving or Christmas at my house, but I just like to have them year round. I'll probably end up getting at least 3 turkeys and 2 hams this year.

Great list! I purchased extra sugar this week due to it was 40 cents cheaper. I am trying to remember to pick up a couple of extra items each week to stock up for baking and cooking.

That's what I figured but I was standing in the grocery store the other day wondering since it was so cheap. lol.

Once our store had a manager's special on Land O' Lakes butter. 99 cents a pound! Limit 15! So I went back twice and bought the limit. But butter freezes well. :)

I just wish I had a deep freeze so I could stock up better.
